Judy: Sorry to hear your less than stellar experience in your search. We are human and we can get sidetracked depending on what is going on. Also follow up on your part will ensure those promises made will come through granted you don't want to be over zealous but I am never bothered by an email or follow call if I have taken action on their behalf.

The second person may have made judgments on what you would do if you were offered the temp to hire position. It is hard to encourage a candidate to take what could be viewed as a risky position if they have a stable FT position.

I have run across a job board geared towards IT which continues to post old positions taken from another board. I thought it was odd receiving emails and calls for a position I had open 6 months ago. Once they knew the full story the candidate was not pleased by the action of this board and would not trust future postings.

I would encourage you to be selective on who you work with as there are some good recruiters out there.

This will be a weird comment, but thank you for the comments that as a professional HR recruiter you try not to lead your candidates on and keeping them on the hook so to speak when they apply for a position.

I'm not in IT but accounting. I've done the bit with various companies including Robert Half and Aureus, etc. I was looking for a new position a year ago and met with recruiter from RH, "Oh, I'll do this and that, you'll hear from me soon..." bla bla. Never heard back. 4 months later I get a call from Account Temps regarding a position. I told her I was interested, but she wouldn't put my resume through b/c I was at a F-T job and she "didn't want to put me in a position of taking a temp to hire over a current perm job. I felt that was wrong. I was willing to take a chance and only asked for an interview with the company. I'm still at this "current F-T perm position" and I am still looking! You take all their tests and then they call you about a temp job.... so where is the job you originally called about? It's a made up ad on careerlink!

I've gotten to the point I only look for positions now where you deal only directly with the company. I'm done with recruiters.

I wish I was in IT and knew of a recruiter with heart.
Thanks!

Before I participated in E-Verify I thought it would be a pretty simplistic process. Enroll, get a password submit any employees which were supposd to be covered. Well there is a test over the tutorial which took me almost an hour to get through. You have to get a passing score. I was relieved my phone did not ring so I could get through the tuturial and hopefully pass. Well I did make it with a C+.
